Famous American Project
Your child will be assigned a Famous American for the research that they will begin at home starting February 7th. Your child will be given a book from the library to use for the research. They will also be given a graphic organizer to write down important information. Your child will need to create a poster with important facts about their Famous American. The poster should include pictures and all the important information from their graphic organizer. Here is a template for what your poster should look like. The graphic organizer should come back when the project is turned in. The poster should be half the size of a big poster board.The project will be due on Monday March 3rd!
Tidbits:
Next week and for the rest of the cold weather season, on cold days, if your daughter would like to bring in a pair of sweatpants to wear during outdoor recess, she may. They should be easy to pull on and wear under their skirt/skort. We are not sending the girls to the bathroom to take off/ put on sweatpants.
Charlotte’s Web:
On Friday(2/14) we will send the book home for the kiddos to read 2 chapters and answer comprehension questions! This assignment will be due the following Friday(2/21)!
Now is the time to get your students reading! When they complete the program by reading four (4) books either inside or outside of the classroom, they will receive two (2) free tickets to our reading night at a Chesapeake Baysox game this upcoming season. Currently scheduled for Sunday, April 13th at 1:05pm.
Additional tickets will be available to be purchased for family members.

House System-Wednesday, February 19th is our next house meeting. Students must wear the color of their house. Students who have PE must wear sneakers. Please refer to the Parent/Student Handbook for out-of-uniform guidelines.

Students will eat lunch at 12:06. Recess is 11:42.
Friendly reminder: SOTI is a peanut free school so lunch items should not include any peanut products.

Unit 9 is a 2 week unit that focuses on r-controlled vowels, focusing on er, ir, and ur.

Fundations Tapping
To do this the students tap their fingers on their thumb for each sound they hear in a word . For example’”ship”-they would do 3 taps for the 3 sounds(sh-i-p). They would then curl their fingers and say the word-ship.
