2nd Grade
Week of November 18th
2024-2025
Tidbits:
Grandparents & Special Friends Day It’s baaack... November 26, 2024 as a “new and improved” whole school event! We want all of our students to have the opportunity to share SOTI with someone important to them! The event will be divided into 3 sessions based on grade level: ● Session 1: 8:30-9:45 A.M. Grades 1, 4, 7 ● Session 2: 10:00-11:15 A.M. Grades Pre-K, K, 3, 6 ● Session 3: 11:30-12:45 P.M. Grades 2, 5, 8 For planning purposes, we ask that all families (whether you plan to have a guest attend or not) RSVP for this event using the Registration Form found here.
On Wednesday, we will be having a House Meeting. Your kiddo can come dressed out of uniform in their house colors on Wednesday.
Also, we are gearing up for Thanksgiving in 2nd grade and have a lot of fun things planned! We are going to be learning about the Macy's day balloon floats and how they are made. After we learn about this we will give the students an opportunity to make their own "floats" with a partner. We are asking that you bring in some materials for your kids! We do not need you to buy anything, rather collect plastic bottles, toilet paper rolls, empty cereal boxes, or other things of the sorts. The students will be randomly assigned a partner for the project. With their partners they will see and pick what materials they have and get creative to build their float. If you would like to send in any elmers glue, decorations like stickers, gems, piper cleaners, etc to share with everyone that would be greatly appreciated, but again not necessary! Please collect and send the materials in by Friday November 22nd.

Snack
Snack in the morning should only consist of a fruit, vegetable, or cheese. Nothing too messy as we do a working snack in 2nd grade. Dipping sauces and utensils are not permitted.
Lunch
Students will eat lunch at 12:06. Recess is 11:42.
Friendly reminder: SOTI is a peanut free school so lunch items should not include any peanut products.
Uniforms
Wednesday is the student’s scheduled PE class. Students will wear their summer uniform at the start of the year. However, on the day they are scheduled for PE, students should wear their PE uniform and sneakers to school. Please see the school handbook for any questions regarding the school uniform policy.
Students can wear spirit wear every Friday. If your child does not have spirit wear, they can wear their PE t-shirt.
Above is an explanation of our House system. The kiddos get to dress in the color of their saint on their Feast Day.
